Nationally, TAC offers to current Year 12 applicants increased by 5.6% in 2016. Excluding WA, offers to Year 12 applicants increased by 3.0% in 2016. Offers to Year 12 applicants increased in all states and territories. WA recorded the largest increase in offers to Year 12 applicants (49.7%), followed by Tasmania (6.9%) and NSW/ACT (6.3%). Queensland (1.8%), Victoria (0.6%) and SA/NT (0.1%) recorded below average growth in Year 12 offers in 2016. The significant growth in Year 12 offers in WA is mainly due to the ‘half-Year 12’ cohort effect.
Offers to non-Year 12 applicants decreased by 5.8% nationally in 2016. Excluding WA, offers to non-Year 12 applicants decreased by 5.7% in 2016. Offers to non-Year 12 applicants decreased in all states and territories, except Tasmania which increased by 19.3% and Queensland which increased by 2.2%. NSW/ACT recorded the largest decrease in offers to non-Year 12 applicants (-16.0%), followed by SA/NT (-11.4%), WA (-9.7%) and
Victoria (-9.3%).

Nationally applications from Year 12 applicants were more likely to generate an offer than applications from non-Year 12 applicants. In 2016, the Year 12 offer rate was 84.8% compared with the non-Year 12 offer rate of 76.6%. In 2016, Year 12 offer rates were higher than the non-Year 12 offer rates in all states and territories except Tasmania.
