13. Strengths (in 100 words)
Dr. Hosetti worked on sewage treatment using waste stabilization ponds processes. His studies revealed that the pond depth may be increased from conventional four feet to eight feet depth in tropical climate.
His studies also revealed that effluent quality may be assessed using Catalase enzyme activity as an indicator of water quality.
He has worked on biodiversity of birds in Karnataka and Mid-western ghats. The study revealed that, Gudavi bird sanctuary maintained stable avifaunal diversity through the management practices and consultancy work of Kuvempu University and Department of Forest, Government of Karnataka.
His studies on Baya birds revealed that among the three species P. phillipinus and P. benghaliensis are widely reported and P. manyar is rarely sited. In contrast to Dr. Salim Ali,s Report, for the first time occurrence of Ploceus benghalensis in the south India was reported by the author.
His studies on house sparrow population revealed that about 80% decline in the population was recorded during the past 10 years specially in urban areas.
Prof. Hosetti has published sixteen books on Indian wild life, diversity, ecotourism, wet lands and EIA.
He has published more than 180 research papers in both India and abroad and he has published review papers in Elsevier, CRC and Academic press journals.
Prof Hosetti has completed major research projects funded from DANIDA, ICFRE Dehradun, UGC New Delhi and DBT, Government of India.
